THE SURROUNDINGS

Gastronomy

Our Sierra is the cradle of the famous Jabugo Ham (the town is 8 km away) and all the products derived from the Iberian pig. As a consequence, endless restaurants have been created offering both traditional and original dishes in all the towns of the Sierra.

Art and culture

The Peña de Arias Montano, the Cave of Wonders in Aracena, the Hermitage of Almonaster la Real, el castillo de Cortegana are some of the well-preserved monumental attractions that can be visited in the region, but it is worth noting that each town offers a delicious walk through its cobbled streets, getting lost in them is the best way to find the essence of the culture of Sierra Morena

Scenery

It is no coincidence that many painters have come to these lands and have not been able to resist the temptation of trying to capture them on canvas. There are innumerable hills and ports that offer an exceptional viewpoint to the four winds.

Popular Festivals

They say that in the Sierra we are always partying, but it is not true, in reality the celebrations last from January with the living nativity scenes and parades, until December with the mycological, ham and craft fairs of Aracena. Between both, all the towns celebrate pilgrimages and popular festivals, among which the Virgen de los Ángeles in Alajar or the medieval days of Cortegana stand out.
